Why 1:1 Technology at CCPS
One device available for every student at school
Our adopted Technology Plan sets a goal of maintaining a one-to-one student-to-device ratio for in-school use. A device gives students and educators another way to explore ideas, create, collaborate and practice digital skills. The learning goal comes first: teachers choose technology when it helps students engage with the work, and students also learn through discussion, hands-on activities, reading and time away from screens.

CCPS’ adopted Technology Plan sets a goal of maintaining a one-to-one student-to-device ratio for in-school use. This means a device is available to support learning at school. It does not describe an everyday take-home device program.
-
No. The goal is access to a tool when it supports the learning task. Teachers guide when and how technology is used, and students continue to learn through conversation, reading, writing, hands-on work and other activities away from screens. The focus is on purposeful learning, not maximizing screen time.
-
Digital and assistive technologies can give students additional ways to access learning, express what they know and participate. Families can speak with their child’s teacher or school team about supports that may be appropriate for their student.
