Our Schools, Our Community

The release of Florida's school and district grades each year provides a snapshot of academic performance, but some results carry deeper meaning than others. This year, Charlotte County Public Schools earned an A rating for the first time in 15 years—a milestone that reflects not only academic achievement but also the power of a community united in support of its schools and students.
While this achievement is certainly worth celebrating, it is about far more than a letter grade. It represents years of commitment, continuous improvement, and a shared belief that every student deserves the opportunity to succeed. It reflects what can happen when educators, families, community leaders, and students work together toward a common goal.

This accomplishment belongs to many people. It belongs to our teachers, support staff, principals, and every employee who helps create safe, welcoming, and effective learning environments. Their dedication, professionalism, and unwavering commitment to students have been the driving force behind this success.

It also belongs to our students. Their hard work, resilience, and determination made this achievement possible. Whether in the classroom, on athletic fields, on performance stages, or through service to the community, our students continue to demonstrate what is possible when high expectations are paired with strong support.

This achievement also belongs to our families and community.  Charlotte County has long understood that strong schools are essential to a strong community. Parents and guardians have partnered with us every step of the way, while local businesses, civic organizations, and community leaders have invested in our students through mentorship, scholarships, career opportunities, and advocacy.

We are also deeply grateful to Charlotte County voters for their support of the school referendum. Your investment has strengthened classroom instruction, helped us attract and retain high-quality employees, expanded opportunities for students, and provided resources that have accelerated academic achievement across our district.

District Highlights:

  • Increased overall accountability points by 39 points
  • Among Florida’s top 16 fastest-improving school districts
  • Ranked No. 21 out of Florida’s 67 school districts
  • Placed in the top third of school districts statewide
  • Reduced the number of C-rated schools from six to two
  • No district-operated schools earned a D or F rating
  • 10 schools earned an A rating
While we are proud of these accomplishments, our work is not finished. An A rating is not a destination; it is an important milestone on a larger journey. Our mission remains unchanged: ensuring every student graduates with a strong academic foundation and a clear path forward, whether that path leads to post-secondary enrollment, immediate employment, or enlistment into military service.

As superintendent, I have the privilege of witnessing firsthand the extraordinary commitment that exists throughout Charlotte County Public Schools and our community. This achievement confirms what many have known for years: Charlotte County is a special place. It is a place where people care deeply about children, support one another, and work together to create opportunities for future generations.

On behalf of Charlotte County Public Schools, thank you for believing in our students, supporting our schools, and investing in our future.

This A belongs to all of us.
