CHARLOTTE COUNTY, Fla. – Charlotte County Public Schools (CCPS) has earned national recognition from the National School Public Relations Association (NSPRA), receiving an Award of Excellence—the highest honor in the video category—for its 2025 Back-to-School Video.

The district’s Back-to-School video, directed and produced by Claudette Smith and James Romulus, was recognized for its production quality, storytelling and its representation of every public school in Charlotte County.

NSPRA's Publication and Digital Media Awards recognize excellence in tactical communications materials, including publications, newsletters, videos, websites, social media campaigns, podcasts and other digital media. Entries are evaluated against organizations of similar size and type and judged on overall excellence, quality, creativity and effectiveness.

"Every day, our Communications Team brings the story of Charlotte County Public Schools to life," said Superintendent Mark Vianello. "Whether through photography, video, social media, publications or community outreach, they shine a spotlight on the accomplishments of our students, the dedication of our staff and the strong support of our community. This award recognizes their talent, creativity and passion for ensuring the great things happening in our schools are seen, celebrated and shared."

The CCPS Communications team has earned multiple national awards for its work, adding another national honor to its record of recognition. The CCPS Communications Department is led by Claudette Smith, alongside team members James Romulus and Christen Peterson.
