CHARLOTTE COUNTY, Fla. — Charlotte County Public Schools is pleased to announce that Mrs. Amanda Sanford has been named principal of Punta Gorda Middle School. Sanford has served as interim principal of Punta Gorda Middle School and will now officially assume the role of principal.
“I am honored to serve as principal of Punta Gorda Middle School,” Sanford said. “From day one, we set a clear expectation that every student can achieve at a high level, and our students and staff have risen to that challenge. We are seeing tremendous academic growth across our campus because of the hard work happening in our classrooms every single day.” Sanford brings more than 20 years of experience in education, including leadership roles in several A-rated schools. She holds advanced degrees in educational leadership and curriculum and instruction from Florida Gulf Coast University.
Prior to serving as interim principal, Sanford served as assistant principal at Punta Gorda Middle School. Throughout her career, she has been recognized for her student-centered leadership approach and commitment to academic achievement, collaboration, and school culture.
“Mrs. Sanford stepped into this role and immediately elevated expectations across the campus,” Superintendent Mark Vianello said. “Punta Gorda Middle School is seeing strong academic growth, improved momentum, and a clear turnaround in school culture and performance. The progress happening at the school is the direct result of focused leadership, committed teachers, and students rising to the challenge every day.”
