CHARLOTTE COUNTY, FL – Charlotte County Public Schools (CCPS) has successfully implemented a series of aggressive district-level cost-saving measures totaling $8.4 million. By continuing to prioritize school needs over the district office, CCPS has stabilized its financial position, maintained a healthy fund balance, and strategically increased school-based resources for the 2026-2027 school year.

To protect classroom instruction and preserve teacher positions, CCPS implemented significant reductions at the district level. Between this school year and next, district budgets were reduced by 27.9%, alongside a 19.9% decrease in district office staffing expenditures, effectively shrinking the overall administrative footprint. These efforts allowed the district to provide an average 4.4% raise to employees within the 2025-2026 school year while maintaining long-term financial stability.

CCPS implemented several district-level adjustments, including:
  • Eliminating the Assistant Superintendent of Technology position to streamline leadership
  • Reclassifying director-level roles to maintain services at a lower cost
  • Eliminating two Assistant Director positions within District Operations
  • Restructuring district departments to improve efficiency

Superintendent of Schools Mark Vianello emphasized that the district’s ability to navigate financial shifts stems from consistent oversight. "Our ability to act from a position of stability and thoughtful analysis is a direct result of our School Board’s years of disciplined, fiscally responsible management," said Superintendent Mark Vianello. "By making the decision to reduce our district-level footprint, we are fulfilling our promise to keep resources where they matter most: in the hands of our dedicated professionals who serve our students every day."

The district has maintained a healthy fund balance, remaining stable while also continuing course offerings such as advanced academics, Career and Technical Education, and the Arts.

School Board Chair John LeClair reiterated the board’s commitment to the community’s primary focus. "Every decision we make is filtered through a single lens: how does this benefit the child in the classroom?" said School Board Chair John LeClair. “We are ensuring that the quality of instruction remains uncompromised. Our focus remains on our students and their success.”

CCPS remains committed to its goal of becoming an "A" rated district.
