Protecting information while building digital citizenship
Students need the knowledge and habits to participate safely, respectfully and confidently online. CCPS’s technology plan includes digital citizenship, privacy, online safety, copyright, media literacy, digital footprints and cyber awareness.
Protect personal and district information
- Keep passwords private and use only district-approved accounts and tools for school work.
- Pause before sharing personal details, images or location information.
- Check the audience and privacy settings before posting or sharing content.
- Report suspicious messages, unexpected requests or concerns to a trusted adult or school staff member.
Think critically and act responsibly
Students learn to evaluate sources, recognize misinformation, credit creators, communicate respectfully and understand that online actions can leave a lasting digital footprint. Technology should help students learn and connect while protecting their dignity and well-being.
Accessibility and inclusion
Digital services should be usable by people with different needs. CCPS’s technology plan identifies digital accessibility aligned with WCAG 2.1 AA and support for assistive technology in a student’s IEP or Section 504 plan.
Families and staff are partners
Talk with students about what they see and do online. Encourage them to ask for help when something feels unsafe, confusing or unkind. Staff can model responsible habits, choose tools carefully and protect confidential information in daily work.
