Begin with the end in mind: Charlotte County Public Schools highlights the "Portrait of a Graduate"
As Superintendent of Charlotte County Public Schools, I am proud to reintroduce a key district initiative that’s at the heart of our Success for All belief as we begin a new school year: the Portrait of a Graduate. This vision for our students' future is more than just an idea—it's a deep commitment to ensuring every Charlotte County graduate is not only academically proficient but also fully prepared for their next chapter in life.
Our Portrait of a Graduate is built on a simple yet powerful premise: a high school diploma should signify more than just the completion of courses and the passing of tests. It should be a passport to a successful and productive future. To achieve this, we are setting the standard for graduation by providing a rigorous curriculum and engaging our students in relevant learning.

In addition to meeting academic requirements, every Charlotte County student will graduate with a selected "E" – Employment, Enrollment, or Enlistment. This framework is designed to make our students turnkey ready for their self-identified “what’s next":
  • Employment: For students choosing this path, we are dedicated to providing the skills and certifications needed to secure meaningful employment immediately after graduation. This means robust career and technical education (CTE) programs and partnerships with local businesses that provide real-world experience and a direct pipeline to the workforce.
  • Enrollment: For students seeking post-secondary education, we will ensure they are not only academically prepared for college-level coursework but also equipped with the critical thinking and life skills necessary to thrive in a technical college, state college, or university environment.
  • Enlistment: For students who choose to serve our country, we will support them with the resources and guidance needed to successfully transition into military service.
This comprehensive approach is about building a talent pipeline right here in Charlotte County with productive citizens. We are working to ensure our local industries have a steady supply of skilled, dedicated, and well-prepared employees. By aligning our educational offerings with the needs of our community, we are creating a virtuous cycle where our students find local success and our local businesses find the talent they need to grow and prosper.

This ambitious vision would not be possible without the incredible support of our community. I want to extend my deepest gratitude to the citizens of Charlotte County.
