Charlotte County, Fla - Marking its strongest performance in over a decade, Charlotte County Public Schools (CCPS) earned a B grade from the Florida Department of Education for the 2024-2025 school year, just one quarter of a percentage point away from being an A district. The district also saw an 80% increase in the number of A-rated schools, now totaling nine, a milestone not reached since 2012. At the same time, the number of C-rated schools dropped, reflecting steady academic improvement across CCPS.

This year's results reflect the district's strategic investments in instructional rigor, data-driven coaching, and student-centered learning initiatives under the leadership of Superintendent Mark Vianello. These gains mark a critical step forward in the district's ongoing mission: Success for All.

"We are incredibly proud of our students, teachers, staff, and parents for this achievement," said Superintendent Vianello. "While a single district grade does not capture the full story behind our accomplishments, the improvement is a direct reflection of our commitment to providing a rigorous and relevant education, coupled with the belief that every student can succeed.

District-wide improvement efforts included the rollout of a new instructional framework, the addition of instructional coaches, and targeted professional development, all designed to enhance student outcomes by elevating teaching and learning in every classroom.

Key Highlights from the 2024-2025 School Grades:

    •  80% increase in A-rated schools—now totaling nine, a 12-year high
    •  Decrease in the number of C-rated schools across the district
    •  Significant gains in student achievement in reading, math, science, and history
    •  Zero D- or F-rated schools in the district

School Board Chair John LeClair praised the results and the district’s momentum, stating, “This is a proud moment for our entire community. These results show that the vision we’ve committed to and the hard work happening in every classroom are paying off. The Board is fully aligned with the mission of Success for All, and we will continue to support efforts that raise expectations and deliver results for every student in Charlotte County.”

Charlotte County’s 2024 Teacher of the Year, Addison Montgomery, added,
“Our students are rising to the challenge because they know we believe in them. These gains didn’t happen by chance—they’re the result of intentional, collaborative work between teachers, leaders, and families. It’s inspiring to see the momentum we’ve built, and I’m proud to be part of a team that’s making a difference every day.”
