Charlotte County Students Receive Prestigious Service Academy Nominations from U.S. Representative Greg Steube
Charlotte County Public Schools proudly celebrates 10 outstanding students who have received nominations to attend prestigious U.S. Service Academies, announced by U.S. Representative Greg Steube. These nominations are for the Class of 2029 at the U.S. Military Academy (USMA) in West Point, NY; the U.S. Naval Academy (USNA) in Annapolis, MD; the U.S. Air Force Academy (USAFA) in Colorado Springs, CO; and the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy (USMMA) in Kings Point, NY.
“This group of students represents the very best of our district,” said Rep. Steube. “Each of them embodies a commitment to service and excellence that inspires hope for our country’s future. I am honored to support their aspirations to lead as officers in the United States military.”
The following students from Charlotte County Schools have received nominations:
- Katelyn Reed, Lemon Bay High School — Nominated for USMA and USNA
- Patrick Hooper, Lemon Bay High School — Nominated for USMA and USNA
- Angela Sanchez, Charlotte High School — Nominated for USNA
- Logan Keith, Charlotte High School — Nominated for USNA
- Nina Dotres, Charlotte High School — Nominated for USNA and USMMA
- Siena Pirri, Charlotte High School — Nominated for USMA and USNA
- Thor Scaperotta, Charlotte High School — Nominated for USAFA and USNA
- AJ Hua, Lemon Bay High School — Nominated for USMA and USNA
- Quinn Briggs, Lemon Bay High School — Nominated for USAFA, USNA, and USMMA
- Maya Harris, Lemon Bay High School — Nominated for USAFA
Superintendent of Schools Mark Vianello praised the students’ achievements and highlighted the district's focus on academic excellence and preparation for life after graduation. “These remarkable students exemplify the success we strive for in Charlotte County Public Schools. Their nominations align with our district’s focus on the 3 E’s: Enlist, Employ, and Enroll. These individuals represent the ‘Enlist’ component with honor and distinction, and their achievements reflect the dedication of our students, staff, and community to our shared vision of ‘Success for All.’”
