Charlotte County Public Schools Launches “School Threats, Serious Consequences” Video to Emphasize Responsible Reporting with FortifyFL
Charlotte County, FL (November 1, 2024) — Charlotte County Public Schools (CCPS), in partnership with the Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office, releases an educational video, ‘School Threats, Serious Consequences,’ designed to inform parents and students across the district. This video emphasizes the critical importance of using the FortifyFL reporting app responsibly and the severe consequences for any individual making threats or false reports by any method or means.
Safety in our schools remains a top priority. As part of the district’s continued commitment to creating secure learning environments, CCPS has developed this video to educate students and their families on the responsible use of FortifyFL, a state-mandated app that enables users to report suspicious activity to law enforcement and school officials in real-time.
“Charlotte County Public Schools is dedicated to maintaining safe places for our students and staff, and it’s essential that our families and community understand both the power and responsibility that come with reporting concerns,” said Superintendent Mark Vianello. “We’re sending a clear message that threats—whether made verbally, in writing, online, or through any other medium—are not a joke. These actions not only violate the Student Code of Conduct, they are also against the law and will be thoroughly investigated, leading to serious consequences.”
CCPS encourages parents to watch the video with their children and have open discussions about the role everyone plays in keeping our schools safe. Together, we can support a culture of safety, integrity, and responsibility, empowering our students to act as upstanders in protecting their school communities.
