Do the Right Thing Awards - April 2018

The Do the Right Thing of Charlotte County monthly award program was held on Thursday, April 12, 2018, in the Punta Gorda City Council Chambers. The following students were honored:

  • Collin Sauseda, Punta Gorda Middle School, Grade 8
    Collin was honored for his courage and bravery. Collin overheard a student make threatening remarks that he planned to bring weapons to school and cause harm. Collin immediately reported this to his teacher. Thank you Collin for your brave actions.
  • Alex Josephine Garcia, East Elementary School, Grade K
    Alex Garcia was honored for her self-motivated tasks of cleaning up trash in the neighborhood. Alex noticed there was a lot of trash alongside the roadways in her neighborhood, so she asked her aunt to go with her to pick up the trash. This is Alex’s way of “saving the world.” Thank you Alex for your efforts and good deeds.
  • Samantha Vega, Sallie Jones Elementary School, Grade 3
    Samantha and another student found a $5 bill on the playground. Instead of keeping the money, the students turned the money in to school officials. Thank you Samantha for doing the right thing.
  • Brianna Santana, Sallie Jones Elementary School, Grade 3
    Brianna and another student found a $5 bill on the playground. Instead of keeping the money, the students turned the money in to school officials. Thank you Brianna for doing the right thing.
  • Brock Mongelli, Home-Schooled, Age 13
    Brock was honored for calling 911 when his mother became ill. Brock, who just moved to the area, was unsure of his address, but he was able to stay calm and answer the dispatcher’s questions until help arrived. Thank you Brock for staying calm and composed in such a serious situation.
