Charlotte County Public Schools Announces New Principals Across District Schools

 

Charlotte County, FL (July 16, 2024) – Charlotte County Public Schools (CCPS) is pleased to announce several new principals across the district, each bringing unique experience and dedication to their respective roles:

 

Dr. Danielle Hudzina, Kingsway Elementary

Dr. Danielle Hudzina has been appointed principal of Kingsway Elementary School, transitioning from her role as the district’s Human Resource Director. She holds master’s and doctoral degrees in educational leadership from Florida Gulf Coast University and brings nearly two decades of experience in southwest Florida school districts.

 

Grace Tollefson, Peace River Elementary

Grace Tollefson has joined the Peace River Elementary team after serving as principal of Myakka River Elementary School for the past eight years. Tollefson holds a bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education and a master’s degree in Educational Leadership. She has been a dedicated member of CCPS for the past 18 years.

 

Jody Poulakis, Myakka River Elementary

Jody Poulakis has been selected as principal of Myakka River Elementary School, returning to CCPS after serving six years as principal in the Lee County School District. Poulakis holds a specialist degree in Educational Leadership and a master’s degree in Special Education. Poulakis has nearly three decades of experience in education, including 21 years working for CCPS.

 

Keli Sare, Sallie Jones Elementary

Keli Sare has been promoted to principal of Sallie Jones Elementary School after the retirement of long-term principal Jennie Hoke. Previously serving as assistant principal for the past two years, Sare brings extensive experience to her new role. She holds a master’s degree in educational leadership from the American College of Education and a bachelor’s degree in exceptional student education. Sare has been a dedicated member of CCPS since 2001, serving in various capacities.

 

Kristy Johnson, Charlotte Harbor Center

Kristy Johnson has been named principal of Charlotte Harbor Center after the retirement of long-term principal Herb Bennett. Johnson has held the position of Director of Exceptional Student Education since 2017. Johnson holds a specialist degree in Educational Leadership and a master’s degree in Specific Learning Disabilities.

 

Tara Whisenent, Port Charlotte Middle

Tara Whisenant has been promoted to principal of Port Charlotte Middle School, following her tenure as assistant principal since 2018. Whisenant holds dual master’s degrees in Educational Leadership and Special Education and boasts nearly three decades of experience in education, having served in diverse roles.
