Do the Right Thing Awards - September 2018

The Do the Right Thing of Charlotte County monthly award program was held Thursday, September 6, 2018, in the Punta Gorda City Council Chambers. The following students were honored:

 

Gabrielle Duley, Murdock Middle School, Grade 8,

Gabrielle was honored for her volunteering.  Every day this past summer she volunteered at the Port Charlotte Rehab Center logging over 350 hours of service. She spent the entire summer making new friends, making the residents very happy, and enjoying her involvement in a variety of activities.  Thank you Gabby for your dedication.

 

Leira Riley, Vineland Elementary School, Grade 4

Leira was honored for her assistance in 2 presentations for her school on juvenile diabetes to kick off a walk for Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation. Leira explained her health situation and brought awareness to her peers about diabetes. Thank you Leira for educating fellow students to be more caring and tolerance of others and unique differences in our world. 

 

Octavion Washington, Port Charlotte Middle School, Grade 6

Octavion was honored for his generosity.  When a fellow classmate could not afford to attend a field trip, Octavion paid for the trip out of his own allowance money. Thank you Octavion for your kindness and generosity.
