Message from Mrs. Taillon: Health and Wellness Protocol
Good morning, Neil Armstrong Positive Astro Family:
This is your principal, Angie Taillon, calling with an important message. Yesterday, our district shared their newly updated Health and Wellness Protocols. You can find them on Charlotte County Public School's website, our school website, and on our school's Facebook page.
Please know that our district and school staff will do everything in our power to keep our students and staff safe as they return to school on August 31st. We appreciate your patience and understanding as we continue forming our classes and preparing our school for reopening. We know everyone has understandably strong feelings and emotions about whether or not to bring their children back to our school building. We hope these new protocols provide some peace of mind for each of you. We are also in the process of finalizing our school's own new Health and Safety Protocols that will be shared shortly with you.
For those of you considering enrolling your child in Charlotte Virtual School or homeschooling. we want you to understand the entire process of each option so you can make an informed decision regarding your child's schooling at least for the first semester of this school year.
Charlotte Virtual School requires that students have their own computers, Internet, and a printer in their home. These items will not be provided for you. The curriculum is rigorous and extensive and will require parent engagement with students. Students will be considered truant if they do not abide by their weekly pace charts.
We encourage you to go to their website at https://www.yourcharlotteschools.net/domain/4536 and read through the information provided, especially the FAQs and review the curriculum for which your child will follow. This is probably the most important thing you can do before making a final decision on whether you will register them at CVS, attend school at Neil Armstrong Elementary, or home school your child.
If you do complete an application for your child to attend CVS, your child will be withdrawn from our school and be placed into Charlotte Virtual School. Once enrolled in Charlotte Virtual School, all parents and students will be required to participate in a virtual orientation and commit to the conditions of enrollment. There is a 21 day grace period for which a student can return to their zoned school.
If you are interested in home education, the most important thing you need to know is that you will be withdrawing your student from Charlotte County Public Schools and taking on the responsibility of educating your child with your curriculum of choice.
Please know that we honor whatever decision you make as a family in regards to your child's schooling, at least for the first semester of this school year. If you have any questions at all, please do not hesitate to reach out to us at 255-7450.
For those students who will be attending Neil Armstrong, you can expect a letter or postcard regarding Open House and your child's class placement by the middle of August. To say we are excited to see our Positive Astros is a severe understatement!
Thank you for taking the time to listen to this message. Have a nice weekend!
