School Year 2020-2021

9/16/20

Good Evening Liberty Families this is Mrs. Whaley. We have spent the last few weeks attempting to streamline our parent drop off and pick up procedures. Our parent pick up line in running much smoother as our families are following Vanguard turning on to Hinton and then coming up Wilkie to make a left hand turn into our gate.

Mrs. Brown and I want to ensure that our parent drop off line runs smoothly in the morning as well. We have many staff members and students who attend our morning care entering campus between 7:30-7:45am. When cars are waiting to drop off before 7:45 the gate is blocked for individuals who need to access campus.

Beginning tomorrow, September 17th the front gate on the campus will be closed until 7:45, we will not allow our parent drop off line to enter the campus until 7:45. Please do not block the gate, as again we will have staff members and LEAP students who will need to enter the campus. Staff members and LEAP parents will pull up to the gate, press the doorbell and the gate with open for these cars only.

Lastly we will not permit anyone to turn left into the parking lot. When cars turn left into the parking lot with the drop off line on the other end of road we congest traffic on both sides of the road. If everyone follows the traffic pattern by entering the line on Vanguard, turning right on Hinton, and then right on Wilkie we will not be blocking traffic and both sides of the road.

In addition parents are never permitted to drive in the exit and during our parent drop off time parents cannot walk their child across the street. Having students and parents cross the street instead of utilizing the line is unsafe.

In order to expedite the parent drop off line, we will ask parents to pull all the way up past the overhang to get more students out of their cars at one time. We also ask that our PreK parents do not come to drop off prior to the times arranged by their child’s teachers.

Again, thank you for understanding that these procedures are to streamline the parent drop off line. Please reach out to our front office if you would like to sign up for our morning LEAP morning care program if your child needs to be dropped off prior to 7:45am.

9/13/20

Good Evening Liberty Families! This is Mrs. Whaley your Assistant Principal, I am calling to let you know about a few events for this week! On Tuesday, we will have our first picture day. You are able to order pictures online at mylifetouch.com using the ID: EVTXGPBS7 or by sending in the order form with your child on picture day!

In addition on Tuesday afternoon we will have our first virtual PTO and SAC meeting at 3:30. We invite all of our Liberty families to participate in these virtual meetings. The links will be posted on our Liberty Patriot STARS Facebook page as well as our Liberty school website.

Lastly, I would like to remind you about our drop off and pick up procedures. We continuing to try and make this a smooth process for all of our Liberty families. In order to allow for a steady stream of traffic without blocking intersections we ask that for the morning and afternoon, all drop offs and pick up follow the parent pick up traffic patterns. We ask that you follow Vanguard, to Hinton then turn on Wilkie making only a right turn into our parking lot. At parent pick up time if you are not following this traffic pattern, you will be asked to circle in the parking lot and pull back around following the traffic pattern. This traffic pattern allows us to not block side streets and other roads.

Students are allowed to arrive on campus at 7:45am. Students who are dropped off between 7:45-8:00 will be in the cafeteria eating breakfast before being released to their classrooms at 8:00. If your child needs to arrive on campus before 7:45, please reach out to our office staff to sign up for our LEAP morning care. Please be curious of our staff members and LEAP students who are arriving on campus between 7:30-7:45am by not blocking our front gate and entrances. If you are lined up in front of the building and blocking the front gate or lined up on both sides of Wilkie, our staff members and LEAP students are unable to get into campus.

Thank you for your understanding. We continue to try and streamline our arrival and dismissal procedures. We look forward to another great week with our Liberty students!

8/31/20

Good Evening Liberty Families,
This is Mrs. Whaley your Assistant Principal! We had a great first day of school today. Thank you so much for your patience during our dismissal time. It is so important to us to ensure the safety of our students when they are going home and we appreciate your patience as we ensure this. Our parent pick up line usually will end at about 3:15, but the first week or so it may take longer as we get into a routine.

A few notes for the rest of the week. Students should be dropped off no earlier then 7:45am on campus. Our School Resource Officer will be outside reminding families that only students enrolled in morning LEAP can arrive prior. Our kindergarten through fifth grade students can arrive on campus between 7:45 and must be in the class by 8:20. If your child is NOT eating breakfast, please arrive after 8:00. Our Headstart PreK students in Mrs. Crowther's class can arrive between 8:00-8:20 and our ESE PreK students in Mrs. Dowling and Mrs. Starkey's class may arrive on campus between 8:05-8:20. PreK teachers will be outside at parent drop off during these time to assist with the arrival of your child. All students should be dropped off in the parent drop off line, as parents will not be able to come into the building.

If your child is changing there dismissal at all this week. It is critical you write a note in your child's planner or send the change through the remind app. Teachers will be checking the planner each day so this is the best way to document a dismissal change. Please note if this change is for one day or a permanent change.

In addition attached to this message and on our Liberty Patriot STARS Facebook page there is a graphic for where to enter our parent pick up line. You must follow Vanguard to Hinton and up Wilkie into the school. You cannot turn into our line from Adair or Kenova. You will also not be able to enter campus if you are going the incorrect direction on Wilkie.

Thank you again for a great first day! We will continue to work together for the success of all of our Liberty Leaders!

8/30/20

Good Evening Liberty Patriot STAR families. This is Mrs. Whaley your Assistant Principal. We are so excited to welcome our Liberty students tomorrow! I have a lot of information for you to start the school year, remember a copy of this message will be posted to our Liberty Patriot STARS Facebook page! Remember all of our Liberty students will be joining us tomorrow, some of our Liberty Leaders will be arriving on the bus and others will be dropped off at parent drop off. Either way, please make sure your student is wearing their mask when they arrive on campus.

I have a few important reminders for our first day of school. Students who are eating breakfast can arrive on campus at 7:45, they will eat breakfast in the cafeteria and be dismissed to their hallways at 7:50 but not able to go into the classroom until 8:00. Therefore, we ask if your student is not eating breakfast that they do not arrive on campus until 8:00 so they can head straight to their classroom. Students cannot exit their cars at parent drop off until 7:45am unless they are enrolled in our morning LEAP program. Our School Resource Officer and administrators will be at the parent drop off to remind parents of this. It is unsafe to have students on campus, sitting on the benches prior to school arrival at 7:45. If your child is a walker, please ensure their route allows for their arrival after 7:45am. All students should be ready to learn in their classrooms by 8:20.

Kindergarten families, if you are going to be participating in our Kindergarten Drive Through Drop Off, please pull on to our bus ramp between 9:30-10:00. Our Kindergarten teachers will be outside and ready to take a picture with your child for their first day. All kindergarten students will have their pictures taken with their teachers and send via the Remind app! If your child is arriving at our regular drop off time, we will ensure they are escorted to their classroom

Please remind your child that when they arrive to school that we will have several adults that will have class lists and will be able to help find their new classrooms. Last week all teachers contact their families to find out how each child will be going home. If you did not get in contact with your child’s teacher, please write a note so we know how your child will be going home. If there are ANY changes in how your child is going home, we ask that you write it in their planner, as we are not able to take changes over the phone.

You will also notice that we have a new gate at the front of our school this year. This gate will be open in the mornings until the conclusion of morning drop off. Once the gate closes, if you visit the campus you will need to pull up to the gate and ring the doorbell located on the pole. When the front office staff member answers you will need to state your name and your reason for visiting the campus. The gate will open and you will be able to park. You will then need to ring the second doorbell at the office door and show your identification. In the afternoons, the gate will be open at 2:30 pm to allow our parent pickup to begin forming. Please do not arrive before 2:30 or block the gate entrance as we will still need to allow visitors to enter our campus.

Our school begins dismissal procedures at 2:50 pm. Please know that our primary goal for the first week of school is to dismiss all of our students safely. We will need you to have a little bit of patience and understanding with us as we make sure that all of our students get home safely. If you were unable to pick up a parent pickup card from us last week, you will be asked to park in the lot and show your identification. You will not be able to enter the lobby of the school, as we will be dismissing our other students. In this case please be patient with us as you wait.

We also want to share with you, your child will receive a breakaway lanyard on the first day of school. This lanyard will attach to your child’s mask to allow them to wear their mask to and from lunch and take their mask off while eating. Lanyards will stay at school and attach to the new mask your student wears each day. If you would like your child to have a lanyard for breakfast as well, you are welcome to send them to school with one. Lastly, you will also notice a dismissal tag on your child’s backpack after the first day of school. Attached to this tag is their breakfast bar code. We will be placing bar codes on all students’ backpacks to eliminate student touching the pin pad. Please keep this tag secure on your child’s backpack and let your child’s teacher know if your child needs a new one.

We know this is a lot of information and appreciate your listening. A copy of this phone message will be posted on our Liberty Patriot STARS Facebook page. Tomorrow is going to be a great day, we can’t wait to start the 2020-21 school year with our Liberty Leaders.

We will only be able to give a parent pick up tag to the primary contacts listed on your child's paperwork. In addition, please bring your identification. We will also be giving out walker tags for our kindergarten and first grade students who are walkers. Lastly, if you would like to drop off your child's school supplies on Wednesday, please bring them in a brown bag, clearly labeled with your child's name and your child's teacher's name.

Kindergarten families, we have an optional Kindergarten Drive Through Drop Off time for your students on the first day of school. If you would like to drop your child off at our regular 7:45-8:20 drop off time you are able too. Our Kindergarten teachers will be on the bus ramp from 9:30-10:00 on the first day of school welcoming students whose families might want to be able to wave to their child's teacher. Parents must stay in their car, but we will happily snap a picture of each student and their teacher and sent it to the families via the Remind app! Don't worry Kinder families, we will happily snap a picture for our students dropped off at the regular time as well!

Last, remember school starts on Monday, August 31st for all Liberty students. Please make sure your child has their mask on when entering the campus or getting on the bus. In addition, please consider sending an extra mask with your student's school supplies should they need one.

Good Evening Liberty Families, this is Mrs. Whaley. I am calling to let you know our online Kindergarten registration will be available this Monday, May 4th, by accessing the CCPS District website or by accessing our Liberty Elementary school’s website.

The online registration application does not replace the formal registration process for all new incoming kindergarten students; however, completing the online application will provide the District and each school with the information we need to begin the registration process. Once CCPS can designate days for onsite registration, we will contact you directly using the contact information you provide when completing the online registration application. We will also post the onsite registration dates on the district website and each school’s website. Please make sure you visit the district website or Liberty Elementary’s website frequently for Kindergarten Registration updates.

Remember, the online registration application for new incoming Kindergarten students will be available on the District and each school’s website beginning Monday, May 4th. We hope you will share this information with any family, friends or neighbors who have incoming kindergartener.  Please let us know if you have any questions by sending Mrs. Brown and myself an email. You can find our emails on our school website. Thank you for your continued support.

4/28/20

Good Evening Liberty Elementary Families, this is Mrs. Whaley. Mrs. Brown and I are so proud of our Liberty Leaders and their hard work on their eLearning. Each week we check in with your teachers to see if you need anything. We know you are working hard!

As you have heard from our Superintendent, Mr. Dionisio, we will not be able to return to school this year and we will be finishing eLearning online. We know that this has brought many questions. In the coming weeks, Mrs. Brown and I will determine a safe time for you to get your belongings from your classroom and hopefully wave from a distance to your teachers. We also know students have pictures and yearbooks they will need from school. We will include those items when students are able to pick up their other materials.

In addition, we want to let all of our Liberty families know that after much consideration and thought we have made the decision to cancel our Summer LEAP camp this year. For our families who have already registered, we will be able to refund your registration fee or we will apply the registration fee to your account if your child will be participating in our LEAP after school program in the 2020-21 school year. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause you or your family, but at this time we must make this decision for the health and safety of our students and staff. If you have any additional questions please send Becky Hazeltine an email at Rebecca.Hazeltine@yourcharlotteschools.net.

Lastly we want to let you know that our fifth grade team is hard at work planning a virtual graduation and a drive through event on May 27th. We hope that if you are a fifth grade family, you will save the date for the morning of the 27th to come and celebrate. We will have some items for the students and we will be there cheering them on. More information will be coming!
We look forward to seeing another great week of eLearning this week and hope you are following our Liberty Patriot STARS Facebook page for daily read aloud and activities from our specials teachers. Please reach out to myself or Mrs. Brown if you need anything. The best way to contact us is by email. Thanks for your continued support on our eLearning journey.

3/25/20

Good Evening Liberty Families,
I am calling because from the results of our technology survey you indicated you needed technology at home. Therefore your family has been allocated one of our school chrome books to borrow. Remember that students are getting technology from one school, so your whole family will use the technology given out by Liberty even if they attend multiple locations.
Please remember that while using school Chromebooks, students are the only ones permitted to use them. In addition Students will be expected to follow our district’s STUDENT TECHNOLOGY and INTERNET RULES, SAFETY and USE AGREEMENT for the time they use the computers. All activity on Chromebooks will be content filtered.
Chromebooks can be picked up on our bus ramp (not our PPU line in the front of the school) this Friday, March 27th. Our bus ramp is on the side of the school, which you enter from Atwater.
We will follow the following schedule:
Students’ last name beginning with A-G will pick up between 8:00-9:00am
Students’ last names beginning with letters H-M will pick up between 9:00-10:00am
Students’ last names beginning with letters N-R will pick up between 10:00-11:00am
Students’ last names beginning with letters S-Z will pick up between 11:00am-12:00pm
If the Liberty Students in your family have different last names please come for the last name earliest in the alphabet.
We are asking all parents who are unable to report at their assigned times come for pick up between 12:00-2:00pm.
When you come please follow the directions. If there is a lot of cars we are going to have two lines coming into the ramp. We will begin with the line closest to the building and have a second line next to it. There will be cones and staff members to help direct you. Staff members will come to you, we will not permit anyone to get out of the car. We are asking that everyone who comes to pick up a Chromebook brings their own pen to fill out the forms. This will ensure we are not sharing materials. All the Chromebooks have been cleaned and sanitized prior to distributing them.
Please understand that you may wait for a little while as we assign Chromebooks to each child. Parents will be required to sign a tech agreement and fill out information in order to ensure we get the chrome books back to Liberty Elementary at the end of eLearning.
Thank you for your continued support. We will see you on Friday.

3/22/20

Good afternoon to all of our Liberty Patriot STAR Families.  This is Mrs. Whaley calling. We know that this Spring Break may not have been what many of us had planned, but we hope that you have had some quality time with your families.  We know this is an uneasy time for many of us, so we are hoping that this call brings you some peace of mind and a reminder that we are in this together.

We wish desperately that we were starting school back in person this week, but as you know attending school is currently on hold.  Charlotte County Public Schools is working on a virtual learning plan that will be shared with staff and families next week. Virtual learning for our students is set to begin on March 30th.  To facilitate virtual learning families will need access to technology and the internet. We need to know what resources your family currently has so we can assist if possible. Please be sure that you complete the District survey through the link below no later than Tuesday. If you do not have resources to be able to complete this survey digitally, call the LES front office on Monday between 8am and 12 pm to complete it with one of our staff members over the phone. If you are in need of your child's ID number, please reach out to me by replying to this email with your child's name. I will provide you with that number.
 http://bit.ly/ccpshometech

Charlotte County Schools and Champ’s Cafe have worked hard this week to get a plan in place to provide food to all students 18 and younger on all regular school days.  Beginning Tuesday and running through April 15th, breakfast and lunch meals will be available for curbside pickup at Liberty Elementary School from 10 am to 1 pm.  In order to receive meals, parents must have identification and students under the age of 18 must be present. Meals will not be available for pickup on Good Friday, April 10th.

As you know, things are changing on a daily basis.  We will do our best to stay in contact with you as we are informed of changes that impact your families.  Our teachers will be reaching out to you via the phone number and emails you provided at the beginning o the year. If you have not already followed our Liberty Patriot STARS Facebook page please be sure to click the like button! We will also have read alouds and other fun activities that will be popping up to our Facebook page next week that will allow us to stay a bit connected in these unique times.

Last, remember that we are Liberty Leaders and as a school family we will get through this.  Mrs. Brown and I can't wait to see each and everyone of you back at school soon!

3/18/20

Good Evening all Liberty Elementary Families,

This evening you should have received a phone call about filling out a technology survey. For easy access, we have provided the link to this survey in this email and our Patriot STARS Facebook page. We are asking that all families fill out this survey. You should be able to complete it from your phone or computer. If you do not know your child's CCPS ID number, please reply back to this email with your child's first name and Mrs. Whaley will assist with getting that information. Most students will know this information, it is the number they use to login to their chrome books or iPads. You can also message our Liberty Patriot STARS Facebook page. Please click below for the survey.

9/9/19

Good Evening Liberty Patriot STAR families, this is Mrs. Whaley. I am calling with a few very important reminders.
Our Otis Spunkmeyer Fundrasier ended on Friday. We really appreciate everyone who participated in this fundraiser to help earn money for our school. We are so thankful for the support you have shown are PTO and school. If you have not turned in your fundraiser packet, please turn it into the office by tomorrow. We want to get these order processed.
We have a few after school activities starting in the next few weeks. This Wednesday is the first Good News Club meeting, if your student is signed up for Good News, please make sure you write a note in your child's planner so they know to send your child to Good News at the end of the day. In addition, we still have some openings in the ATA Safe Kids Safety class. This class meets for 6 weeks every Monday beginning September 16th from 2:50-3:30. This class costs $59 and $30 is donated back to the school! Please let the front office know if you need another form to register.
Due to the amount of students we have eating breakfast in the cafeteria this year, we will need to make a change in our breakfast procedures when families are eating with their students. Families will be invited to eat at the parent tables lining the walls as you enter the cafeteria, these tables will be labeled with the family table sign. If the adult is not buying a breakfast, we ask that you wait at these tables to avoid having additional people in the line. In addition, parents or families who eat breakfast with their students in the cafeteria are only able to eat with their students.
Lastly, please save the date for picture day on September 18th. If you would like to order pictures online please visit mylifetouch.com and enter our ID: FT109036Q0 to place your order.
Thank you for your continued support. Please follow our Liberty Patriot STARS Facebook page for a copy of this message and updates and reminders.

8/27/19

Good Evening Liberty Families. This is Mrs. Whaley I'm sure you noticed the Otis Spunkmeyer fundraiser packet in your child's backpack on Friday. We had a kickoff for our fundraiser kick off and the students have been talking about it ever since! Did they tell you all about the cool prizes they can earn? This year we are again able to sell to friends and family online! This allows friends and family who are not local support our school. See the brochure inside your packet for our school id: 1096 and on your white order form there is a red number in the top left, which is your student ID number. These numbers allow the items to count towards your child’s sales. Your child can also earn their first robot by logging into the system and entering emails or phone numbers of family members!
The sale runs until September 6th, so please help your child with their efforts. The grand prizes will be awarded later after the sale, but students have a chance to earn and collect robots along the way. Inside their packet, you'll see a sheet of collection tickets. These tickets need to be filled out by an adult verifying that students have sold the appropriate amount of items either in person or online. Students can earn their first robot after registering online and then another after 2 item. Then students will earn another after 5 items, then 10, 15, and so on. Due to this portion of the prizes being "honor system based" students will not be able to redeem their tickets unless they are filled out and signed by an adult. Thank you so much for supporting this fundraiser and helping our students earn their robots. This is our primary PTO fundraiser for the school year and the money we earn goes a long way to support our students!
Also I wanted to remind you about our SAC and PTO meeting on Thursday at 3:15. We encourage all of our Liberty Families to join us for our PTO and SAC Meetings. During this meeting we will be discussing our School Improvement Plan and asking for input and conducting a bully training for parents.
Please check out our page to learn more about Girls on the Run. This program is for our 3rd, 4th and 5th grade girls to make friends, increase physical activity and learn important life skills. This program meets twice a week for 10 weeks. There is a fee for the program but please call the number listed on the flyer to learn about the scholarship opportunities available!
Thank you for your continued support. Please follow our Liberty Patriot STARS Facebook page for more updates and reminders.

8/18/19

Good Evening Liberty Patriot STARS this is your Assistant Principal, Mrs. Whaley. We had a great first week with students and look forward to another week ahead. We appreciate your patience as we have many families learning our dismissal procedures. One thing that helps is if your child goes home in a consistent way each day. We understand their may be changes occasionally but it allows your student to get into a routine of where they go at the end of the day. Our parent pick up line has been ending each day by 3:25. Please make sure if your student is dismissing parent pick up you are in the line by this time, as we do not have any supervision for students after 3:25.
When driving through the parent pick up line, please clearly display your parent pick up sign. Please pull all the way up to the next available spot. If your student does not come out, please pull up to zero zone, the area past one at the very end of parent pick up and we will call them on the walkie-talkie again. If your student is consistently getting called to zero zone, please encourage them to listen carefully for their name. In order to keep all students safe, please make arrangements so your student can load on the right side so they are not walking in between cars during dismissal.
Tomorrow will be Independence Day for our students when they are getting dropped off at school. We recommend that you drop them off in the parent drop off line. We will have extra staff members and safety patrols on hand to ensure students are brought to the cafeteria for breakfast or to their classrooms. For the safety and security of students, starting tomorrow students will be walking independently to their classrooms. If you are unable to drop your student off in the line, please walk them to the front doors and we will ensure they get where they need to safely.
Please remember that our school day begins at 8:20. If you are planning on coming to have breakfast with your student you need to arrive in plenty of time. Beginning at 8:15 any student who is not through the breakfast line will take a packed breakfast to class. Students need to be in class ready for instruction beginning at 8:20.
Thank you for all of your support. We look forward to another great week ahead. Please remember to follow our Liberty Patriot Stars Facebook page for more updates and reminders.

8/12/19

Good Evening Liberty Patriot STARS this is Mrs. Whaley. I am calling to thank you for an excellent day of school. We truly appreciate your patience while we scanned everyone through the building this morning. If you plan on walking your student in tomorrow, please ensure you have your identification ready. If you would like to utilize our parent drop off line, I can assure you we will have staff members and safety patrols on hand to walk students to breakfast and to class. On Monday for the safety and security of our building, all students will be walking to class independently or with the help of a safety patrol.

In order to have a smooth parent pick up line please enter the line on Vanguard Terrace and follow the line to turn right Hinton into the school parking lot. If you are coming from Peachland, you cannot turn left on Hinton. This is critical as we cannot block both sides of traffic for emergency vehicles. If you turn into the parent pick up line in any way other then the directions described, the School Resource Officer will ask you to pull out and enter the line correctly.
If for any reason your student’s transportation was unclear today, please send a note with your child’s teacher to ensure we know how to dismiss your student tomorrow. If you are changing your student’s transportation, please write a note as we can only change your child’s dismissal in writing.

Thank you for your continued support. Please follow our Liberty Patrior STARS Facebook page for more updates and reminders.

Good evening Liberty Elementary Families. This is Mrs. Whaley calling with a few reminders for this week. Please remember that students can enter campus at 7:45 for breakfast. Our new start time is 8:20am, if your student is eating breakfast at school, please ensure they are dropped off in time to eat breakfast and be in their classroom by 8:20. We will begin dismissal at 2:50 and for the first few weeks of school, the parent pick up line may be long. Please visit our Liberty Patriot Stars Facebook page if you need to see the way our parent pick up line forms. Please follow the directions on where to enter to ensure our line runs smoothly. In addition, you must have a 2019-20 parent pick up tag in order to pick up in the line. If you did not get one at Open House, please come to the office to get one.

In addition, we know that many parents and families will want to walk their students to class the first day of school. As you are walking your student, please encourage them to remember how to get to their classroom, as parents will only be able to walk students this week. For the safety and security of our campus, students will walk to class themselves beginning next Monday. If you choose to walk your student this week, fostering that independence while walking them this week, will make the transition easier. We will have staff members and Safety Patrols to help walk students to class if they are unsure of the direction.

Please also remember that tomorrow, a lot of families will be checking in at the office. All families must be scanned through out system. Please have your identification ready and be patient as we work as quickly as we can getting everyone through.

Good Evening Liberty Elementary Families. We hope you had a restful and relaxing break and can’t wait to see everyone back to school tomorrow morning. As we welcome students back from this break we wanted to remind you of a few things.
As of tomorrow, January 9th, all kindergarten through fifth grade students will need to walk independently to class. If a parent or guardian would like to meet with their student’s teacher, please make arrangements with your child’s teacher prior. Thank you for understanding this important change to increase the security of our campus for our students.

In addition, with award ceremonies coming up in January we want to make sure these days run smoothly. The families of students getting award will receive an invitation with an RSVP form on the bottom. All individuals attending the award ceremonies will need to be scanned through our RAPTOR system. Please list the names of all individuals attending the award ceremonies on the RSVP form so we are able to preprint the badges the morning of the award ceremonies. At the end of the award ceremonies, we will invite all parents to our courtyard to take pictures of their child with their awards.

Lastly we want to remind you that in order to gain entry to the school building, you must have your identification out. When ringing the doorbell on campus, we will ask to see your identification before we are able to unlock the door. Please understand that this is a district policy, even if our secretaries know you, we are still required to see your form of identification before unlocking the door. We are also asking that when entering the locked door you do not let additional people through the doors.

Thank you for understanding that these systems and procedures are to ensure the safety and security of the students on our campus. We look forward to seeing everyone back to school tomorrow!

Good Evening Liberty Families. This is Mrs. Whaley. I'm sure you noticed the Otis Spunkmeyer fundraiser packet in your child's backpack on Wednesday. We had a kickoff for our fundraiser on Wednesday. Did they tell you all about the cool prizes they can earn? This year we are also able to order items for the sale online! This allows friends and family who are not local support our school. See the brochure inside your packet for our school id: 1237 and on your white order form there is a red number in the top left. These numbers allow the items to count towards your child’s sales.

The sale kicks off has officially kicked off, so please help your child with their efforts. The grand prizes will be awarded later after the sale, but students have a chance to earn and collect mystical creatures along the way. Inside their packet, you'll see a sheet of collection tickets. These tickets need to be filled out by an adult verifying that students have sold the appropriate amount of items either in person or online. After 2 items they earn their first mystical creature, then another one after 5 items, then 10, 15, and so on. Mrs. Brown and I have some fun surprises for students who are selling for our fundraiser! Due to this portion of the prizes being "honor system based" students will not be able to redeem their tickets unless they are filled out and signed by an adult. Thank you so much for supporting this fundraiser and helping our students earn their mystical creature. This is our primary PTO fundraiser for the school year and the money we earn goes a long way to support our students!
With the long weekend coming up, since we do not have school on Monday, this is the perfect time to sell some fundraiser items!
Thanks to all the students who wore their team color shirts this Friday. We are so excited to show our Patriot Pride every Friday.  Please dress with your Red, White, or Blue team! We also have many reminders on our Liberty Patriot STARS Facebook page. In order to find the page online please search: Liberty Patriot STARS. Please check out our page to learn more about how to sign up for Girls on the Run, our Treasure Tower and other reminders.

8/21/17

Good Afternoon Liberty Patriot STARS! This is your assistant principal, Mrs. Whaley, calling with an important message. This weekend, our school's message said that we would be holding all students for Rainy Day Dismissal due to the Solar Eclipse. However, the district has asked all schools to follow regular school dismissal procedures. Therefore, unless it is indeed raining, thundering and lightning, we will dismissal our students the normal way.
If this causes a concern for you, please do not hesitate to arrive at school before 2:30 p.m. to dismiss your child.
Sorry for any inconvenience this causes your family. We do appreciate your support. Thanks again.

8/20/17

Good Evening Liberty Patriot STARS! I am calling with a few reminders for this week. Please listen to the entire message as we have many important reminders.
Tomorrow, Monday, August 21st, there will be a solar eclipse viewable in our area. Charlotte County will not be in the area of total eclipse so it will NOT be safe to look at the sun at anytime during the event. All recess and after school activities will occur inside between 1:00-4:30. Due to the eclipse, we will be functioning as a "rainy day" dismissal for walkers. To ensure the safety of our students, walkers will need to be picked up at the office or in the parent pick up line if you have a tag. We would also encourage all parents to pick their students up from the bus stop to walk them home.
Our parent pick up line is back to ending between 3:00-3:05, if you are unable to pick your child up before 3:00 please inquire with the office about our LEAP after school care program. Any one who comes to the office to pick a student up without a parent pick up tag will need to wait until the parent pick up line has concluded. This allows our parent pick up line to run smoothly.
LEAP is an after school care program provided by our LES staff to ensure a fun and exciting after school care. Please inquire with the office if you would like to register.
Lastly on Tuesday, August 22nd we will have the Grand Opening of our Family Reading Experience between 7:30-8:30am. At this event you will be able to meet your child's teacher and see the campus. Before leaving Open House please ensure your child's teacher knows how they will go home from school on the first day. If your child will be going parent pick up please stop by the Media Center with your ID to get a parent pick up tag for the 2017-18 school year. You will need an updated tag to utilize the parent pick up line on the first day of school. We will also have a table set up to get more information about LEAP, our after school program.
Our first day of school is on Thursday, August 10th. Students can arrive on campus at 7:45. Students may not be on campus before 7:45 as we do not have any supervision available for these students. All Liberty Elementary students can have breakfast for free before proceeding to their classrooms. Students can enter their classrooms beginning at 8:05. In case you were unable to get the message from the county, our buses will be running late due to the delay in dismissal at the high school level.  At this time they are unable to give an exact time of arrival.

Good evening Liberty Patriot STARS.  This is Ms. Shepard calling with a few announcements.
Thank you so much to everyone who turned in their year round ballots.  At this time we did not receive enough votes to support continuing with the year round initiative.
This Thursday we will have our regularly scheduled Chick-fil-a Spirit Night from 5 to 8 pm.  Mark your calendars for the annual Chick-fil-a Elementary School Challenge.  It will be held the week of February 22- 26.  Last year Liberty won the challenge beating out Meadow Park and Neil Armstrong.  All of us are in the same competition again this year but only the top two schools will be able to compete next year.  Plan to eat at Chick-fil-a that week!  Our theme will be amazing!
Thank you for your time and have a wonderful evening.

1/25/16

This week we have grade level awards for the 2nd quarter.  There was a misprint on our newsletter and the times were incorrect.  The second set of awards for the day begins at 9:45.  Please remember that if your child is receiving an award during the ceremony, your teacher would have sent home a notice to you about the award.  Although all of our Liberty Patriot STARS work very hard, not all of them will be recognized during the awards ceremony.

1/22/16

This message is for parents and guardians of students who are walkers or bikers.  There is severe weather in the area and at this time we need to hold all our walkers and bikers on campus for at least a half hour until we get the all clear.  It would be very helpful if a parent or guardian come to the school to pick up their student so that they can get home safely.  You can drive through the parent pick up line or park to get your child from school.  Thank you for your patience and cooperation during this time.  Our goal is to keep all our students safe.

Tomorrow is Picture Retake Day.  Any student who was absent or did not attend our school during our first picture day, will have the opportunity to get their pictures taken tomorrow.  If your child took pictures and you were not happy with them, you can return them tomorrow and your child can retake their pictures.  We hope to see your smiling faces tomorrow for picture retakes.
We have been having an issue with students who are being dropped off and picked up in vehicles around the perimeter of our school building.  This has been causing an unsafe condition for our students.  We ask that if you live more than the walking distance away from school or if you want to drop or pick up your child in a vehicle that you do so through the proper procedures of using the parent drop off line and parent pick up line.  The line runs very smoothly when our Liberty Patriot STARS follow the expectations and this keeps all our students safe. We thank you in advance for your cooperation.
Thank you for your time and have a wonderful evening.

11/1/15

Good Evening Liberty Patriot STARS.
Tomorrow afternoon, we will be asking that any car that drives through the parent pick up line without a parent pick up card park and go inside the office to get a card for the vehicle.  We have noticed that many of the same cars are ending up in zero zone.  In order to expedite the parent pick up line, it is important that all cars have the cards visible.  We will no longer allow cars without cards to hold up our zero zone.  Please make sure that you have your identification with you if you will be needing to pick up a card tomorrow afternoon.  Remember that we cannot take any changes over the phone.  Thank you for your understanding and patience.  Our number one priority is the safety of our students and we want to make sure that they are being picked up by the appropriate people on their emergency card.
Enjoy the rest of your evening.
