Practical Nursing prerequisites are:

• Minimum 18 years of age when the program starts
• High School Diploma/ GED
• Background Check
• Drug Screening
• Admission Essay Requirements
• Admission Essay Rubric

If required, take the Basic Skills Test at our Testing Center. Call 941-255-7500 Ext. 1745 to schedule to take the test.

Practical Nursing  prepares you for:

• Articulated into AAS/AS degrees at any State College in Florida
• Florida Board of Nursing- Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN)

Practical Nursing teaches:

• Practical Nursing Foundations 1 (300 hours)
• Practical Nursing Foundations 2 (300 hours)
• Medical-Surgical Nursing 1 (300 hours)
• Medical-Surgical Nursing (300 hours)
• Comprehensive Nursing & Transitional Skills (150 hours)

Applicants who have attended, but not completed, another practical nursing program must provide a letter of good standing from the Director of the School of Nursing (or designee) that addresses the following: potential for success in an LPN program, safety in providing nursing care, interpersonal communication skills, and other information the director deems important.
