Degrees and Certifications:
Mrs. Debi Carden
Hi! I am thrilled to be here at Kingsway Elementary!
I grew up in Pennsylvania, but have spent most of my adult life in the South. Both my undergraduate and graduate degrees are in Psychology, but I was fortunate to be recognized by a school leader and approached to become a teacher. Being that I love children, I agreed. It was one of the best decisions of my life!
I taught Kindergarten in a private school setting for over 15 years. I stepped away from teaching during my daughter's high school years, as I knew that my time with her was limited-- I wanted to be there for her when she needed me! During that time, I worked as a paraprofessional at South Carolina School for the Deaf and Blind and then transferred to Greenville County schools where I was a paraprofessional in a Preschool Special Ed classroom. My skill set grew immensely during this time, and I'm so grateful for the opportunities.
I am married to a wonderful man named Victor. We were married in 2019, and I'm grateful that we could lean on each other during the pandemic. My daughter recently graduated from high school, and she will be attending The University of Florida this year. Upon the graduation of my daughter, I knew it was my time to go back into the classroom, so I took the FTCE (Florida Teacher Certification Examination) this past summer, applied for employment, got hired, and moved all within a few weeks!
I am very new to the area-- We just moved in July, but we are so grateful and excited to be here.
While not at school, I enjoy time with my family. My husband's daughter lives in Wisconsin with her husband and has a baby girl: I am a Grandma! My favorite time is spent by the water-- I am a "thalassophile" (lover of the sea): I find peace by the water's edge. I also enjoy photography and our cat, Maize.
Let's plan on having a wonderful year together: Communication is key! WE ARE A TEAM!!
