Mrs. Sara Kuhar
Welcome to science! Although I am new to Punta Gorda Middle School, I have taught all middle school grade levels of science during my 12 years teaching in Sarasota County. My approach to teaching is to incorporate many modes of learning, including reading, taking notes, watching videos, working collaboratively with groups, hands-on activities and labs, computer simulations/activities, and project-based learning. My goal is to teach students the skills they need to be successful, how to effectively learn, and how our science topics relate to the real world. I communicate regularly with parents through regular email updates (every 1 - 2 weeks), and I will make every effort to make all class resources available to students through Google Classroom. I do not assign homework on a regular basis (other than studying for assessments), but I do expect my students to be "present" each day to maximize our time together in class (in-person or virtually). I have high expectations for my students, but I also provide a lot of support and many engaging activities to keep their interest. Please feel free to reach out to introduce yourself or your child, or email me any time with questions or concerns (firstname.lastname@example.org). I look forward to a great 2020-2021 school year!
