    CTC Students Win 6 Gold Medals at National SkillsUSA Conference

    Charlotte Technical Center is proud to share that six of our students recently returned home from the SkillsUSA National Skill and Leadership Conference with 6 Gold Medals!  The Conference was held June 23-29, 2013 in downtown Kansas City, Missouri.  CTC had ten students who had earned the privilege of representing Florida at this year’s National Conference.  The six students who earned gold medals and have been recognized as the best in the nation include:

    • Jessica Black, a postsecondary Dental Assisting student who won Gold in Job Interviewing Skills;
    • Cory Elijah, a secondary Charlotte Aviation Institute student who won Gold in Aviation Maintenance Technology; and
    • Shanek Grant, Gabrielle Masterjohn, Claudia Ramirez, and Hannah Stoquert, secondary Practical Nursing students who won Gold in Health Knowledge Bowl (Team Event).

    Over 6,000 students from 48 states across the nation competed in 98 different career and technical events at this year’s SkillsUSA National Conference. Students had earned the opportunity to compete at the national conference by placing first in their state level competition in which they advanced from their regional and local level competitions.

    CTC Drafting and Carpentry Programs Featured in a Story on NBC-2

    NBC-2 recently did a story about skilled trades in construction. The story featured the CTC Drafting and Carpentry  Programs and the Charlotte-Desoto Building Industry Association. Check out the news clip at this link:

    23 Students Receive Medals at State SkillsUSA Competition

    Charlotte Technical Center is proud to share that our students brought home 23 medals from the Florida SkillsUSA Skill and Leadership Conference held this past week in Pensacola, Florida. 5,000 students from career and technical programs from all over the state attended the conference and competed in over 90 events. 7 Gold medal winners are now eligible to compete at the national level in Kansas City the last week of June.
