• Announcing a great new healthcare benefit!

Charlotte County Public Schools is committed to your total wellbeing, which is why we’re excited to announce an exciting new healthcare benefit. Starting late January, the CCPS Employee Wellness Center will offer behavioral health counseling to help you have better access to care when and where you need it most. To provide this new benefit, we’ve expanded our partnership with Marathon Health, one of the nation’s leading providers of worksite healthcare.

Marathon Health will offer behavioral health counseling with a dedicated licensed professional counselor who will be available onsite to meet with you. Whether you’re dealing with grief, stress, anxiety, depression, relationship issues, PTSD, eating disorders, or self-image – the counselor is here to listen and help you live a happy, productive life.

The care provided by Marathon Health is available for you to use if you choose and may be used to supplement the care you receive from your primary care provider. Your personal health information is protected by state and federal law and will not be shared with CCPS without your written consent.      Over the next few weeks, we will be communicating more details about this new benefit. If you have questions about this offering, please contact Lori Leutwyler at lori.leutwyler@yourcharlotteschools.net. We look forward to helping you take the next step in your health journey.

  • 2019 Wellness Initiative: Year of the Small Step

Each day we have the opportunity to make decisions that will help us progress towards our goals. Even when you have a bad day, choose soda over water or even chocolate over an apple. It is important to remember to be kind and patient with yourself on the journey towards obtaining your goals. The goal of the Year of the Small Steps program is to help motivate you to make small decisions every day that lead you closer to obtaining your goal. Whether your goal is lowering your BMI, eating more nutritious food, or lowering your blood pressure the Year of the Small Step program will reward you for the steps you take.

Participants in the program will monitor and track their progress through fitness trackers, phone trackers, participation in wellness coaching at the Marathon clinic, and other activities. Each activity will have an assigned point value. As you complete activities you will log into the Marathon e-Health Portal to document your progress. Once documented, you will receive points to bid on gift cards, gym memberships, 5k race entries, and other prizes.

Each month will have a specific focus that pairs with educational videoes from our partners at the CCPS Wellness Center.
