Mission Statement: My mission as a teacher is to motivate, educate, and inspire students to be their best and to help them realize that through learning they can enhance their lives in a positive way. I want to help all students believe in themselves, and through their belief, take on challenges of life to move forward and prepare for the future.
I grew up in Upstate New York in the Mohawk Valley; a little hamlet called Currytown, just 7 miles south of Canajoharie. I have an older brother and older sister, and I have a younger brother and younger sister, which makes me a true middle child! My husband, Jim, and I were married May 22, 1982, and we have three beautiful daughters; Kira, Victoria, and Adrianna. Kira has blessed us with two wonderful granddaugthers, Peyton and Aria, who are smart, funny, and extremely lovable. Before moving to Florida in 2014, Jim and I raised our family in Westminster, Colorado. We spent 23 wonderful years in beautiful Colorado before starting our new adventure in Florida. Kira, Peyton, and Aria continue to make their home in Colorado, as well as our yourngest daughter, Adrianna. Victoria followed us to Florida in 2015. Prior to teaching, I spent 25 years as an accountant in the buisiness world. I began my teaching career in September 2005. I have a Bachelor's Degree in Behavioral Science with a minor in Elementary Education, which certifies me as an elementary teacher grades K-6. In 2008, I earned my Master's Degree in Reading and Literacy. Upon moving to Florida, I received my ESOL (English for Students of Other Languages) endorsement. I continue to take classes regularly so I am up to date on the latest with best practices in educational strategies to help students learn and grow. I am beginning to study so I can take my ESE (Exceptional Student Education) exam in September to be certified and endorsed in ESE, too. It is true that teachers never stop learning!
