I am Mrs. Umbras.  I graduated from the University of Tampa in December of 1985.  I was hired in Charlotte County to teach 6th grade at Peace River Elementary where I continued to teach for the next 33 years.  I have taught every grade from 1st to 6th grade.  I have taught E.L.L., inclusion, regular education and honors classrooms.  In 2017, I moved from Peace River to Kingsway Elementary where I have been teaching inclusion 4th grade.  In 1998, I got my masters degree in math, science and technology from FGCU.  I love teaching.  It has been my life long career goal.  I come from a family which truly values education.  Both of my parents were teachers, as well as 3 of my step brothers and several nieces and nephews.  My favorite game to play as a child was school.  Of course, I was always the teacher.  I have high expectations for behavior and acedemics.  As you can tell from the variety of my previous assignments, I believe that all students can learn.  I do my best to make learning both challanging and fun.  I love project learning and utilize it in the classroom.  I like to do cooperative learning activities too.  I am hoping that can still be managed to some degree this year.  We want to keep everyone safe and healthy.  Please wear a mask (no Gaiters or bandanas) while on campus.  I will always be wearing mine.  My goal this year is to make sure I always do my best to make the students in my classroom feel that they can be a contributing and successful citizen of this classroom and that I want the best for them because I care.  I look forward to working with both student and parents to make this a great year despite what is happening in the world around us.  I want all students to be in school daily, but only if they are exhibiting no symptoms of Covid 19.  If you are experiencing any symptom, please stay home and quarentine.
