Dr. Danielle Hudzina

Hello Vineland Herons! My name is Dr. Danielle Hudzina and I am honored to be the principal of Vineland Elementary- an A school!

I was born and raised in Charlotte County where I attended Neil Armstrong Elementary School, Port Charlotte Middle School, and Port Charlotte High School. I then earned my bachelor's degree in Elementary Education from Florida State University (GO NOLES!!) before moving back to Charlotte County and teaching at Punta Gorda Middle School. I taught 6th grade Earth/Space Science and 7 Habits Leadership at PGMS for 8 years.

My grandfather was a school principal at East Elementary and Neil Armstrong Elementary. I always wanted to follow in his footsteps and become a school leader. While teaching, I went back and earned my master's degree in Educational Leadership in 2009 from Florida Gulf Coast University.  I then started my doctorate degree in Educational Leadership from FGCU in 2012.

Although I loved teaching at PGMS, I missed elementary school terribly! In 2014, I accepted an assistant principal position at an elementary school in DeSoto County. After 3 years of working in large, Title I schools in DeSoto County, I accepted an assistant principal position in Lee County where I stayed for two years. I finished my doctorate degree in 2018 while working as an assistant principal in Lee County. For my dissertation, I focused on new teacher mentoring programs and teacher retention in rural school districts. Mentoring is one of my passions!

After being gone from Charlotte County for 5 years, I really wanted to come back home!  Luckily, I was able to do that by joining the Vineland community in 2019. I love working with the students, staff, families, and community here to create a positive and encouraging learning environment for everyone at VES. Collaboration is the key to a successful school!

My husband, Mike, is a high school teacher and baseball coach. We have a beautiful daughter named Kylie.  She can't wait to be a Heron, but she has quite some time before she can come to kindergarten 🙂

Please contact me at any time with ideas, questions, or concerns. I love working together with you to ensure VES is the best school possible! Please consider following our Facebook page to stay up to date on school events. Also, please consider attending our School Advisory Council (SAC) meetings and Parent/Teacher Organization (PTO) meetings, as this is where we collaborate and make decisions for the school together.

I am looking forward to a great year!
