    The time is flying by.

Here at PCMS, we are celebrating our success! Everyone’s hard work, last school year, really paid off! Our school received a grade of “A” from the state of Florida, for our students’ performance on the state’s standardized tests, last spring. This is proof that TERRIERS are knowledgeable, motivated, and they know how to apply themselves. YOU have reason to be proud of your school, yourselves, your teachers, and all of our Terrier staff for supporting you and helping you to reach this amazing goal.

Here’s even more fantastic news. Our score ranked us in the #1 spot of all the public schools in the district. That is an impressive accomplishment. Of course, some school must be in 1st place, but THIS YEAR, we’re glad it is PCMS. So, pat yourselves on the back Terriers, you did it! You attend an "A" school,  that also ranks as the NUMBER 1 school in the whole county.

You know, it’s difficult to get to the top, but it can even be harder to stay there. Your school leadership team, your teachers, your parents, and all the rest of our staff have faith in you. You proved you can do it. We know you can do it, AGAIN.  Mr. LeClair has so much faith, in fact, that he has PROMISED, that if you earn our school an “A” grade again, he will SHAVE HIS HEAD for your entertainment, at this time, next year. We all want to see that, so let’s get busy and do it again, this year.

The campus was built back in 1971 and opened under its original name, “Port Charlotte Junior High School”. Although it is one of the oldest school buildings in Charlotte County, it is bright, clean, and provides a safe learning environment. The school’s enrollment is usually at about 825 students, with a faculty of about 46 full time, professional, state certified teachers.

The principal is John LeClair. Each day, following our Pledge of Allegiance, Mr. LeClair promotes a positive mindset by sharing a poignant message with students and staff. He chooses these messages to provide a strong start to every day. The school colors re GARNET & GOLD, and the mascot is the tenacious “TERRIER”. The symbol is a fitting reminder that the reward for determination and hard work is success!
