Family Reading Experience
-
What is the Family Reading Experience? The Title I Family Reading Experience is an integral part of theschool-wide effort to offer educational support to our families. The Family Reading Experience takes place twice a week on Tuesday and Thursday mornings from 7:30-8:15am.Parents locate books that are "just right" for each child's current reading level.Having books on the correct level provides the greatest opportunity for reading skills to grow.In addition to the weekly check-out books, each child receives one weekly "keeper" book for their home library, when a parent (or other adult in a child's life) visits the Family Center to check out books. What are the goals of the Family Reading Experience? To involve parents in a home/school partnership for improving student academic achievement. To provide parents with learning strategies and workshops to help their child succeed. To develop a love for books and enthusiasm for reading. To increase parents' knowledge of the reading process. To provide books for parents to use with their children. To distribute current information and materials on effective parenting techniques._____________________________________________________________This year please visit the family center on your assigned day, Tuesday or Thursday. To sign up for a day, call Mrs. McGill at 255-7515._____________________________________________________________
