• Classroom Rules and Expectations

Students will provide their own drama class folder (with paper) which they will bring to the classroom each day and be used throughout the year to accumulate their work, projects and written assignments.  This folder will be presented for evaluation and grading several times throughout the year and then theirs to keep and take home at the end of the school year.

Students will be expected to attend class AND participate.  Theatre is a “participation sport”.  There is no “sitting on the sidelines” and a student who has chronic attendance issues and fails to be in school and in class will see their evaluation/grade suffer considerably.  Any student who is not prepared to participate in daily exercises and activities should seek out another class that interests them and in which they can succeed and thrive.  Parents will be contacted and meetings with guidance and the Dean will be scheduled with any students who consistently fail to attend class OR participate.

Students must follow all classroom guidelines and rules.  These will be posted throughout the year and include (most importantly) NO ELECTRONIC DEVICES in their hands or on their person during the class session (unless specifically asked by the instructor to be used for a particular exercise.)  Upon entering the drama class studio, students will be sure their devices are in their backpack and their backpacks are placed in the appropriate area and then be ready for that days’ activities. Failure to do this will result first in warnings, and then in confiscation of those devices for the period.  Chronic abuse and/or failure to adhere to this policy will not be tolerated and will be directed to the Dean’s office.

Disruptive, rude, and generally aggressive attitudes will not be tolerated.  The theatre is a place for collaboration and supportive feedback. Any student not able to particpate with this in mind will be removed if warnings are not respected and effective.

This year COVID-19 protocols will be in place during all time spent in the classroom. (Please see the description on the Covid-19 safety procedures page)

  • Supplies for ALL class periods.

Theatre classes will make use of standard basic supplies.  EVERY student is expected to maintain a class folder/binder.  This should be the type that has a place for three hole punched paper AND pockets in the inside front and back covers.  Throughout the year additional paper may be made available by the instructor when necessary.  These binders are the main resource that students will use to record their assignments and progress.  Each day classroom activities will involve either the students binder/folder OR their school chromebook OR both.
