Anything Goes

Returning upperclassmen and incoming freshman can feel confident that Theatre instruction at CHS is alive and thriving in Punta Gorda.  The Drama Troupe 0922 has achieved some extraordinary success both in the community with ongoing performances at CPAC as well as with our strong participation in the ITS Thespian competitions held in Florida at both the District and State levels.  Students of our Troupe have proudly represented CHS by competing with drama troupes across the state receiving many superior ratings as well as "Best in Room" honors for both duet acting and ensemble acting.

Our productions occur both on the CPAC mainstage as well as in the more intimate Black Box performance space.  Mainstage productions that have been presented since my arrival in 2017 include "Our Town", "Twelfth Night", and the musicals "Into the Woods", "The Robber Bridegroom", "Once on This Island", and the exceptionally successful "Anything Goes".   The Black box productions have included "Arcadia" and the classic comedy "The Importance of Being Earnest".  The Drama troupe has entered into the ITS One-Act competition recently with a selection from "High School Musical".

As the Drama Director at the extraordinary facilities at CHS, I am particularly excited to welcome ALL students into the Drama Classroom located at F-108.  It is an stunning "black box" acting studio and offers a wonderful training facility.  Technical theatre students are fortunate to have a tech theatre space that rivals most colleges.  Frankly the opportunity for high quality theatre instruction at CHS is hard to rival.

I look forward to this year, as in all years, as an opportunity to continue to strengthen the training here at CHS.
