    FIFTH GRADE LANGUAGE ARTS HOMEWORK:

    1)  Students must read at least 20 pages in an AR book at their level, record the pages read, and write a point to share with the teacher during 1:1 reading meeting. Students are expected to pass one AR quiz every other week.  LAFS.5.RL.4.10 By the end of the year, read and comprehend literature, including stories, dramas, and poetry, at the high end of  grades 5 text complexity band independently and proficiently.


    2)  Students must "Strive for 45," which means they must complete at least 45 minutes of iReady reading each week. They must also pass one iReady reading lesson each week (every other lesson must be a close reading lesson).  I will check student progress every weekend.  LAFS.5.RL.4.10 By the end of the year, read and comprehend literature, including stories, dramas, and poetry, at the high end of  grades 5 text complexity band independently and proficiently.  LAFS.5.RI.4.10 By the end of the year, read and comprehend informational texts, including history/social studies, science, and technical texts, at the high end of  grade 5 text complexity band independently and proficiently.
