Virtual Instruction Program
Full Time K-12 (VIP)

Charlotte County Public Schools launched a full-time K-12 virtual instruction program during the 2009-2010 school year. The Virtual Instruction Program (VIP) is governed by state statute s.1002.45 F.S. Please review the eligibility information below.

On June 23, 2009, the Charlotte County School Board approved Florida Virtual School/Connection Academy, LLC as the provider for the VIP.


Virtual School Registration for all interested students will start February 1st and end 30 days prior to first day of the CCPS regular school year.

All required documents below must be returned to the VIP office with original signatures, email/fax copies cannot be accepted.

Late registrations cannot be accepted.

Those students already enrolled need not re-apply.


To be eligible for the program, students must have spent the prior school year in attendance at a public school in Florida or be the dependent of a member of the military who was transferred in the last 12 months (proof of transfer required).

If accepted, families will be directed to the online registration with FLVSCA or FLVSFT, which must also be completed.

Instructions will be provide when notified of acceptance.

Parents should NOT contact FLVSCA or FLVSFT until acceptance notification is received from the District.

Registration requirements are defined below:

For Current Charlotte Public School Students

Students transferring from a Public School In Charlotte County must submit the following:(Families registering more than one child, must submit the following for each child)

  1. Student Registration Form
  2. Records Request Form
  3. VIP Program Information / Participant Agreement Form
  4. Proof of residency (current homestead card or purchase contract or warranty deed or lease/rental agreement or current utilities statement)
  5. Families who do not have access to a computer and/or internet access may complete the VIP Request for Technology Form.In limited situations, technology and/or an internet stipend may be issued to the family.

Students Enrolling from a Florida Public School Outside Charlotte County

Students enrolling from a Florida Public School Outside of Charlotte County, must submit the following: (Families registering more than one child, must submit the following for each child)

  1. Student Registration Form
  2. Records Request Form
  3. VIP Program Information / Participant Agreement Form
  4. Proof of residency (current homestead card or purchase contract or warranty deed or lease/rental agreement or current utilities statement)
  5. Proof of physical examination within the last 12 months. If documentation cannot be provided, a physical examination must be scheduled within thirty (30) days.
  6. Proof of Immunization on Department of Health Form 680
  7. Copy of a Birth Certificate
  8. Copy of the last report card
  9. Families who do not have access to a computer and/or internet access may complete the VIP Request for Technology Form.In limited situations, technology and/or an internet stipend may be issued to the family.

Charlotte Virtual School(CVS)

Charlotte Virtual School is operated by Charlotte County Public Schools under a franchise agreement with Florida Virtual School (FLVS), a national leader in online instruction. Charlotte Virtual will be using the same rigorous curriculum as FLVS with local, highly qualified teachers.
