Dress Code
It is expected that students will wear the following:

*  Clothing and hairstyles which are not harmful, disruptive, or hazardous to health or safety.

*  Appropriate undergarments at all times.  Undergarments are to remain unexposed.

*  Footwear which is appropriate to activities and conditions.

*  Tops and dresses which have sleeves.

*  Pants, skorts, shorts, skirts and dresses whose length is about the knee or longer when standing. 
         These are to be fastened at the waist.


It is also expected that students will not wear the following:

*  Caps, hats, headwear, or sunglasses except when authorized by school staff.

*  Apparel emblems, insignias, badges, or symbols that display obscenities, are sexually suggestive,
         or which promote the use of alcohol, drugs, violence or other illegal activities.

*  Apparel or symbols which are offensive to any specific group or which are indentified with gang,
         secret society, or cult involvement.

*  Any articles of clothing or jewelry that could likely cause injury or disruption, such as but not limited
         to, a spiked bracelet that could be used as a weapon or easily cause injury.

*  Halter, backless or sleeveless dresses or tops, spaghetti straps, tube tops, tank tops, muscle shirts,
         tops with low or revealing necklines, or any other clothing which may be distracting unless
         covered by an appropriate outer garment which remains as part of the outfit.  In addition, the
         midriff shall not be exposed.

 



Cell Phones
STUDENTS MAY:

*  Carry a properly stored cell phone.

*  Use a cellular phone during a school-sponsored event (e.g., dances, sports events, etc. outside of
         the scheduled day).  However, use of the communication device will be denied if it becomes
         disruptive to the event.

*  Use a cell phone on school grounds BEFORE the start of the school day.

*  Use a cell phone on school grounds AFTER the end of the scheduled school day.


STUDENTS MAY NOT:

*  Use a communication device while on a school district bus with the exception of musical devices
         such as iPods that are used with earphones and do not interfere with the safety of the bus as
         determined by the driver.

*  Use a communication device for the purpose of composing or receiving text mail.

*  Use a communication device during a scheduled school day.

*  Use a communication device during lunch.

*  Carry a communication device unless it is in a properly stored container.

 


Use of Agenda
The PCHS Student Handbook (Agenda) is an excellent resource for all PCHS students.  This handbook offers valuable answers to many of your questions: Policies, Rules, and Information important to your high school success.

The agenda is designed to get the student organized and we encourage parents to look at the agenda regularly to help your students manage their time effectively.

 

Parent Pickup Students may be picked up and dropped of in front of D-Building.  Students should be picked up by 2:20 p.m.

 


Contacting a Teacher
You may either contact the school or leave a message with a secretary; they will in turn contact the teacher via a message to call you - or you may contact them via e-mail.  An example of an e-mail address for a teacher is:   Jane_Doe@ccps.k12.fl.us

This is a great new tool to stay on top of your students' academic progress, discipline, and attendance.  You may register online:

Parent/Teacher Conference This is done through the student's Guidance Counselor.

Class Changes During the first 3 days of school, you may meet with the Guidance Counselor in the lunchroom to make changes.  After this start period, you may make an appointment with your Guidance Counselor.

Career Information Center (CIC): The CIC offers and assists students with information regarding Career Exploration, Post Secondary Placement, Colleges and Universities, Scholarships, and Bright Futures.  Contact Deb Tate, 941-255-7485, x3118.

 



Lunches
The cost of lunch will be $2.30.  Pre-payments for meals at Champ's Cafe are welcomed before school and at meal service time.  Customers can prepay for meals and ala carte items for a week, a month, or more.  Payments for meals are to be made prior to or at the time of meal service.

Champ's Cafe uses a computerized system for managing individual accounts.  Each customer is given a PIN (Personal Identification Number).  families may pay for meals with cash, by check, or by credit/debit card.

When making pre-payments, please make checks payable to Champ's Cafe, noting both PIN number and student name on the check.  For more information go to:  www.yourcharlotteschools.net .  Select "For Parents" and then "Champ's Cafe".

 

Textbooks Textbooks will be issued starting the first week of school.  It is the students' responsibility to return all textbooks or pay overdue/damaged textbooks at the end of the semester or school year.

 

Supplies Teachers will advise students the type of supplies needed for their classrooms.  It is suggested that students bring a pad of paper, pen, and folder on the first day of school for important information that is given to students.

 

Lockers During the first few weeks of school lockers are issued.  The cost is $5.00.  This is handled by Mrs. Barlow located in the Dean's office.

Absences and Early Dismissals Contact the Student Office - Phone: 941-255-7492.  We ask if you are calling for early release to please call at least 30 minutes in advance.

 

Illness During the School Day He/She may go to the school nurse.  The nurse will then contact the parent.  If you need to pick up your student, you will come to the Nurse's office and sign him/her out.
 

 

Fast Food on Campus Fast Food is NOT permitted on campus.

 

Underclassmen Pictures Underclassmen Yearbook Pictures will be taken on September 9, 2009.

 



Bus Information
You may access your students' bus stop online through the district web site.

Click on the PARENT link and on the left side of the page click BUS STOP INFORMATION.  After clicking on the link, you can enter your address into the drop down menu and the program will identify the bus stop location, the bus number and the time of pickup.  Bus passes are issued only by the school.

A student may ride another bus home for emergency reasons only.  A request by the parent must be submitted to the Dean's Office.  A student will not be given a bus pass if they are not eligible for regular transportation.
