The Florida Department of Education and school districts are authorized to utilize the PDSEP for the purposes of improving professional development. The protocol is based on the National Staff Development Conference Standards, and effectively translates the standards into essential functions for the district, school, and individual. At each level, the protocol addresses data-driven planning, quality delivery, effective follow-up, and thorough evaluation of professional development. Each Florida district participates in a protocol review every three years.
