Leadership

The district strategic plan, “Plan to Achieve Student Success,” includes a strategic goal for leadership, “We will develop the leadership capacity of all staff and students to operationalize district values.” To realize this goal, the Professional Development Academy provides professional development programs in “principle-centered” leadership. In partnership with FranklinCovey, Inc., the district has committed to provide the foundation course “The Seven Habits of Highly Effective People” to all employees by 2008. Additional courses are targeted to applicable groups and are included in leadership development programs. All new assistant principals are required to participate in the district’s, “Preparing New Principals” program. A leadership track is included in the “Charlotte Academy for Professional Educators (CAPE)” program. Additional programs are being developed for support personnel and other employee classifications.
