Inservice Categories
The Partnership and Performance Council has established the following inservice categories for events that effect employees in the CFEA bargaining unit:
- Mandatory – required inservice must be compensated at the full hourly rate of the employee
- Highly Encouraged – high priority inservice will be compensated at the current stipend rate set in the CFEA contract
- Voluntary – optional inservice will not be compensated
- CAPE – courses included in the Charlotte Academy of Professional Educators (CAPE) will be tuition based with compensation earned in accordance with the program guidelines
Exceptions to the above include:
- Reading and ESOL endorsement courses will not be individually compensated. Upon completion of the endorsement, the employee will earn a one time payment at the current rate set in the CFEA contract. CAPE guidelines will apply to endorsement courses taken through the CAPE program.
- Teachers in the Teacher Assistance Program (TAP) will not be compensated for required inservice included in the TAP professional development plan. However, if the inservice is a CAPE course, the teacher may participate in the CAPE program according to the above guidelines.
